Single screen, ultrawide or triple screens: each one gives a different view of the track. Here is how to choose, and how to set any of them up properly.
Single screen
Cheapest and simplest. The limit is your side view: on a single 27 inch screen at 60 cm, the correct horizontal field of view is about 53 degrees, so you will not see cars alongside you.
Ultrawide
One curved panel, no bezels, more side view than a single screen. A great middle ground for racing and flying.
Triple screens
The widest view outside VR: with three 32 inch screens at 70 cm you reach about 160 degrees, enough to see a car at your door. You need a solid stand and correct side-screen angles.
Whatever you pick
- Bring the screen as close as your wheel allows: closer means a wider correct field of view.
- Set the FOV to match your real screen geometry, not your taste: use the FOV calculator.
- Use a free-standing stand with triple screens or a motion platform, so the image stays still.
