FOV
calculator
The field of view that matches your real screens. Get it right and your brain reads speed, distance and braking points the way it does in a real car. Enter your setup, read the exact value for your sim.
Measure from your eyes to the center of the screen, seated in your driving position.
The right FOV
is a lap time
Speed you can trust
A field of view wider than your real screens shrinks the world and makes corners arrive faster than they look. You brake late, then too early. A correct FOV puts every object at its real size, so your braking marker is where it seems to be.
Horizontal or vertical
Sims do not all measure FOV the same way. iRacing and Automobilista 2 ask for the horizontal angle. Assetto Corsa, ACC, rFactor 2 and Le Mans Ultimate ask for the vertical one. The table above gives each sim the value in its own unit.
Closer is better
The correct FOV is set by your screens, not by taste. If it feels too narrow, move the screen closer rather than raising the FOV: on a cockpit, the monitor can sit just behind the wheel.
